About this journey
If you have one free morning on the island, this is the shape it should take: a palace, a view, and a walled town.
We start at the Achilleion while the gardens are still cool, then stop at Kanoni for the view down onto Vlacherna and the islet everyone photographs from the air on the way in. The last hour belongs to the Old Town, on foot, at whatever pace suits you. It is the shortest way to understand why Corfu looks Italian, sounds Greek and is laid out like a British garrison town.
